The Ligue de l’enseignement (Teaching League) in close association with Solidarité Laïque (Secular Solidarity) is supporting the Ligue de Madagascar (Madagascar League) in the development of teaching, culture and popular education.
Your modest participation during your stay is a fantastic tool for maintaining the force of their commitment and supporting the efforts which are being undertaken for Education for All.
Tours and Meetings
The lower town: Analakely and Tsimbazaza Park. The upper town: Belvédère, Prime Minister's Palace (19th century) and museum, Royal Palace, house of Jean Laborde. Dinner-meeting: Discussion about Madagascan realities.
Musical event. Meet parents of students. Tour by rickshaw of this town with its colonial architecture. Dinner-meet with two leaders from the Zebu Overseas Board who organise solidarity saving (1,500 zebus placed in poor villages).
Cross a varied countryside: paddy field terraces, mountain streams, vineyards, Betsileo pine forests. Lunch – meet with leaders of the NGO Bel Avenir. Tour of Fianarantsoa (1000 churches). Dinner – Slide show and meeting with the team of Pierrot Men (committed and talented photographer from the country).
The road between the grassy savannah of Horombe, then the rocky desert of Isalo. Relaxation time in a natural swimming pool. Ilakaka famous for its fabulous sapphire deposits.
Tour of the activities of the NGO Bel Avenir in Tuléar: the salt work school (return to school for child workers), craft industry support, etc. Cross the southern lagoon in a high speed boat and arrive at Anakao.
Trip in dugouts with fishermen: tour of the desert island of Nosy Ve, an old pirate base. Swimming in the lagoon and beach activities: windsurfing, beach.
Accompany the women to the waterhole to look for the evening water. Musical evening accompanied by songs and dancing.
Meet with the Fihamy association (“Women Sex Workers”). Tour of the shell market and port. Dinner and dance evening with an explanation of the social meaning of the dances.
Tour of the school the Ecole de la Solidarité in Antananarivo. Meet teachers and children. Lunch accompanied by dancing, songs and music. Free time to buy souvenirs at the Craft Market.
